Questions
Frequently asked
- How much smaller will my images get?
- It depends on the image and quality setting, but converting to WebP at 80% quality typically reduces file size by 30–70% with no visible difference.
- Does compressing reduce quality?
- Compression is lossy, so very low settings can soften detail. At the default quality the change is rarely visible, and you can raise the slider for higher fidelity.
- Why is the output WebP by default?
- WebP compresses smaller than JPG or PNG at the same quality and keeps transparency, so it produces the smallest files. You can switch the output to JPG if you prefer.
- Are my images uploaded to compress them?
- No. Compression runs entirely in your browser — your images never leave your device.
